to avoid American self-riteousness

If you have a few minutes, it is wortho going to www.defendbearbutte.org and listen to the voice and photo report via Chicago Tribune, as well as a couple of other reports by Native Americans, encluding an impressive number of women leaders and reporters, on their international gathering in South Dakota on sacred Lakota land being invaded by the noise and alcohol of half a million bikers, despite treaty guarantees we no longer respect, like too many other treaties that whiate man with forked tongue has reneged on too many dozens or hundreds of times, it seems.
The Christian Peacemaker Teams are present, helping to insure the best nonviolent response from the Native Americans encamped there to proclaim their rights and reserved land for their rites. See: : www.menno.org.cpt.news@MennoLink.org and click on Bear Butte update.

We do love to invade3, don't we, ever since 1492, and call it Freedom and "discovery" of new real estate for US to own by planting our flag, or driving our bikes all over it.

Invade and/or occupy is such a frequent part of our US history, from East Coast landings from Europe on thru our takeover of Mexican lands by violent, Army assisted occupation by gold hunters and others in search of land to own, on thru our "owning' the Philippines for too many decades, until they kicked us out, with help from a volcano that covered up our air force and navy bases we thought we owned, as we still think abaout hundreds of such bases all over the planet, surrounding Russia and anybody else who might want to challenge OUR land or oil resources. And we have used all the means that the Israeli "Defense" Force has used in Palestine and now in Lebanon again to enforce our "rights", often claiming like the Israelis "self defense" from "terrorists attacks" by those who tried to defend or regain their own lands from our occupation.
May the thousands of bikers stay sober enough to avoid violent "defnese" of their right to ride wherever they want, treaties by damned. And religious rights and rites be ignored.
Where is the federal or even state police protection from mass invasions by bikers? Or do they expect them all to vote Republican in November?
